How Does Our Setup Pole and Paddle on LIVE’s Catamaran Board?
What I cover in this video
- We get a lot of questions about how these paddle. It is a paddle board — just the only fiberglass catamaran one in existence.
- I don't have fins in right now. With fins I'd be tracking a little straighter.
- There's 400 lbs of gear on here, 500 with me, and I'm fighting a rushing incoming tide.
- One-handed push into the current with a bad shoulder, and she still turns and goes where I want.
- Remember I've still got an engine shaft down in the water. Without that it's easier again.

Everyone, David, SUP Customs. We get a lot of questions about how well these live boards paddle. Well, it is a paddle board. It's just the only catamaran paddle board, fiberglass in existence. So, yes, it paddles great, but how does it pull? We get a few questions about. And I'm not really on the back right now too much. And I have my micro pole spike, my Power-Pole spike. So I could probably be in better position. But we just got done with a customer test day and he's running around with a six, having the time of his life.
Current's coming in my way right now. So if I Let's turn this upside down. Maybe give me a little bit more grip. So if I wanted to pull this thing, I don't have fins in either. With fins, I'd be a little straighter. Just fine. Let me do a nice turn here. If I had a 14 16 foot pole, probably be easier. So now, if I didn't have 400 400 lb of gear on it, let me try to go back towards this current. Like I said, the tide's rushing in. So, right now, I'm fighting the current pretty good. I saw a fish right now. I could turn.
And now I'm going to give it a little push into the current onehanded. Bad shoulder. All right. So that's pushing paddling. Might as well. Let me give it a little reverse here again. A lot of weight on here. Five 100 lbs with me. And I'm not standing on the back. I'm kind of in the middle here. Push off a little bit if I want to reverse here if I want to. A little bit. Straighten her out in this current. All right. All right. Now, let's give her a couple kicks. One, two, and I'm going. Got the current that's going to be hitting the bow.
Let's see how good I can just turn in the current. Let's kick off the other side here. One more little reverse. All right, let's go. All right, here we go. One, two, three, and I can just chill going right into this current. And remember, I have an engine shaft in the water still. So, without that, probably a little bit easier, too.
