Do You Really Need a Mud Motor to Run Skinny?

Hey everyone, David, sup customs? Just finished an awesome day over here with a good friend of ours and then Brinkley with Waiting the Bay. Check him out. He'll get you out of Sarasota. He'll get you out of Tampa if you're visiting Florida. Want to get on some fish, want to learn about fishing. It's just a great time with him. But I He's not waiting today. He's been on a live in Subcuss setup. So, wanted to talk a little bit about a couple things for our YouTube series. I'm committed every time we're out fishing to do so.

One, people ask how skinny we go. I got a question last week, do about a guy that really wanted a mud motor. And the only reason why you would want a mud motor for these which would go on the plate is really not to run skinny, not to hit anything because these are kicker engines. They'll hit and they just pop up the board. When you buy the paddle board from us, we put the aluminum tracks in so it can take a hit. U what you would really want a mud motor for is to go through like heavy brush, something that a standard engine can't do.

That being said, our cut prop when we buy when we bought buy our props, we bought the performance prop better metal weed cutting design. When we talking about running skinning, check this. This prop is almost Check it out here. I mean, like I said, I can get on plane. I can I can jump out of this mud here and get on plane. I tell people if you have a three 3 in, send it. You don't need a mud motor on these to to run skinny. And then a little bit about our fishing today. What one of the things about the subcustom setups is how much range we can cover and how skinny we can get.

And we've been running this no matter what the tide was doing. I'm not really a kayak guy. I don't like the weight. I don't like the I'm a catamaran guy. I don't like the heavy weight of a kayak pushing water. I had a a bass gentleman that won a a bass championship off off a live board says that he gets to his grounds 20 minutes before the heavy kayaks. Bought one of the top kayaks that just came out. Sold it and because he just the 65lb board, how fast and stable it is just worked better for him. And this is why I mean we're out here moving.

So, we started off three miles away. Didn't even have engines on some of these boards today. And then what we did and what which you're going to have a really hard time doing in something slow that you're paddling or even a pedal drive is we covered three miles. We covered a mile out and we located these fish today. So, they weren't at the shoreline like sometimes they are over here. They weren't off on the drop offs way out there. They were kind of sitting in the middle. But unless we could just move and we're going five, six miles per hour with these trolling motors.

Unless we could just move and move and move fast. We weren't getting on them. And we didn't start getting on fish till about mile three. And we got here at some of these creek mouths. And a lot of times we would think that they'll be underneath mangroves or they'd be on the shoreline chasing bait, but they weren't. They were actually I caught about a 25 26 inch snook and they were actually these red fish and snook were sitting in pockets. And because I could stand on a cooler and get elevation and see far really far about mile two there, I caught a snook because I I was it was kind of the heat of the day cuz they were sitting under grass probably in the shade and I plucked a red fish after after realizing that because of my elevation I could really see.

So these things are really a game changer when it comes down to the weight and the speed and the stability. I don't know about everyone else, but I I I know when I fish, I like to cover sometimes I have to cover a lot of ground to get on the fish. Really really scout. And I like multiple ones cuz Austin went there and Jim went there and Brley went there and we were all able to kind of figure out what the fish were doing today. So, I hope that answers some questions about motors, trolling motors, speed. We're on a sandbar right now just kind of chilling.

U we're going to head we'll do our three mile journey back to the port. What what's nice about today there's kayakers everywhere. So what we did is just shot to where they can't reach and we started fishing too. So I hope that helps. Go to SUP Customs.com ask us any question you want. We're on Dakota 60s right now and like I said, we've probably covered between zigzag and everything. I don't know, eight miles and we probably won't even drain a quarter of it.
