David Explains the New Minn Kota Trolling Motor Kit!
What I cover in this video
- Austin and I just finished loading for a Texas run — every battery, Dakota box, paddle, spike and micro pole installed by us.
- People think we contract this out. We don't. We do all of it, even the coating.
- MotorGuide is basically out of business and Rhodan stopped doing 12 volt and 36 inch shafts, so we spent months finding the gap.
- I'm not becoming a dealer or cutting shafts myself. A small business does that, and they honor the warranty when a dealer does it.
- It's a 12 volt, 55 lb push — minimum five miles an hour, and eight if you use the current or wind to your advantage.

Everyone, David SUP Customs. I am Austin and I are finished loading for a Texas run and testing run. So, we got boards and skiffs heading all the way down the coast of Texas. Couple surprises. So, if you're still in Texas and missed this run, reach out. U couple surprises showing up. Wanted to go over our new trolling motor setup for everyone to explain the trolling motor process. Just a little bit tired because we've been working all day long loading, making sure everyone has every little piece, every little part, every battery, every Dakota box, every Golden Mate, every paddle, every spike, every micro pole installed.
So, it's a long day. People think that we contract this out. We don't. So, we do it all, even the coating. So anyways, our new trolling motor system, yes, we do have an AutoBoat. We're saying the AutoBoat is for people that want to experiment, get into this tight budget, you know, and are okay with the system of the AutoBoat kind of being jerryrigged type of thing. So, the AutoBoat is good. It's still on the website. I still run it. But with everyone making changes in the trolling motor industry, Motor Guide basically being out business, Rhodan not doing 12 volt or 36 in shafts anymore, it's getting challenging.
So we have spent a few months really trying to find the gap. So we have some awesome guys that are putting this together for us. I'm not becoming a menota dealer. I I'm not cutting down shafts. They do honor the warranty when a dealer does it. We just have so much going on that I would actually like to support a local business, small business, and have you guys do that and ladies do that and teenagers do that. Everyone that's getting this. So what you'll do is you'll order your skiff online, order your paddle board with coding online, everything from me.
Give me a call. Let's go over your setup. Let's go over your build. Let's figure out what you need, where you spend need to spend the money, and where you can save. But then all you'll do is give a call to our company that is selling the Minn Kota to you. Give them a credit card over the phone and this is what we put together for them with them. So basically you got the Minn Kota power drive 12 volt 55 pound push the board depending on the current winds minimum of five miles per hour but if you're in a good current or wind eight miles per hour if you're if you're using it to your advantage really flies on this catamaran board.
So what they're doing is the cord that comes with the trolling motor they're putting this quick connect. Everyone on our setups that want to run their battery in the front will have this. So this will connect the terminals to the battery and then you'll have this setup here and you're good to go. Now, we also are working with cleaning to get a magnetic piece you can put here and u and you'll have a little magnet on the board and you can just magnetize this right straight there. So, all right. So, that's your setup.
Batteries up front. Connects right to it. Power box, golden mate, whatever. But then what we're doing, like me, I like to run the the battery to the back. So, now what you got is you got a seven foot run. Get a $20 extension cord hider that you will 3M glue right down the board like I did. I did a video about it, but reach out. So then motor and this, see here, and then this will be either just permanently stays on your board or you can, you know, those extension cord hiders peel up each time. And then boom, now your battery's in the back and you got your terminals.
So now you just call them say I want David and Austin SUP Customs kit. It's sold like this all put together. He even sealed everything waterproof even silicone the the ends of these. And guy you guys and gals you are ready to roll. So this is our new solution to the months we've been dealing with trying to figure out the perfect truly motor solution. So we installed this today. So, we installed the puck to the plate and then we put the base on the actual trolling motor, the puck on the front plate. He's already cut down the shaft to 36 in the remote's right here.
So, when he gets this in Texas, he is ready to rock and roll. All right, SUP Customs.com. Call though. Remember, these aren't just thrown out as just, you know, a one type of setup for everyone. Like we will build your perfect setup for your region, your lake, your ocean, your back country, your offshore setup. We have these up from Maine to North Dakota to Hawaii, Texas, and California going out. So, give us a call. We'll get you set up. And, there's not much weight times. We're going out of season. So, if you want to get back ice cools down, now is the time.
Take it easy.
